Toronto’s feisty purveyor of all things Jackin’, Demuir, brings forth another giant helping of ‘Jaques’ to the DJ Sneak empire –  ‘Becuz, I Can EP’ for Magnetic Recordings. The EP title track is an animated force of vigorous beats, an oscillated synth bass rumble, topped with rhythmic cut up vocal loops and cheeky drops peppered with a spoken word. “‘Becuz, I Can’ is a deliberate reference to my relationship with music, which I made analogous in a traditional relationship with another person”, says Demuir, “Music consumes me – dive in and get a reference to the Tech roots that got me into House.”  ‘Becuz, I Can’ also gets a Dub make-over complete with a stop-start groove and filtered breakdowns for major dance-floor impact! ‘Tess Mi Sound’ goes straight for the Jackin’ jugular, pimped with groovy jazz hooks and playful classic “sound bwoy” Jamaican patois vocals from Demuir, creating a battle-like feeling with a laughter added in synch with beats to say, “try me…you can’t step to this”.

“The EP captures a heavy period in my production journey. Thematically, I was going for a story telling vibe originally, but there were so many songs to which Sneak and I decided to pair it down and feature the other tracks on my follow-up release on I’m A House Gangster for next year.” – Demuir
